Laker Virtual World UPDATE 6

5/23/2020

Please read for important updates relating to our members.

Online Training

The Board met on May 20th and recommitted to providing online training six days per week. Details are below. We strongly believe it's important to continue to pay our coaches at this time, and we know that members have valued this training very highly.  Many thanks to our coaches for helping us stay fit through this time!

Donations Needed

We have chosen not to take seat payments for training sessions, in part to reduce the administrative burden on our volunteers, and in part to allow members experiencing hardship to continue to row. Instead, we're hoping to make up these costs through donations.

To date, we've received donations that cover about half the cost of paying coaches for these sessions.  The cost is about $1,000 per month. We've been operating in this way for two months, and have received about $1,000 in donations so far.  If you'd like to help ensure that we're able to sustain this programming, please help us with a donation. We'd like to try to raise another $3,000 to take us through the end of July. If you're using the training regularly, please consider sending $200, or adding to a prior donation to reach this level. If you're not using the training, or if you are experiencing hardship, please contribute whatever you can.

Donations to support online training sessions can be made here. Log in with the same credential you use to pay your rowing bill.

Board Member Mary Makarski

Many of you know our dear Board Member, Mary, and may have heard that she was involved in a serious accident at her home this week, resulting in severe injuries. We are hoping that friends and well-wishers will help cheer Mary on in her recovery. Mary welcomes texts and e-mails from friends.
