Event location: Class of 1887 Boathouse
C.Bernard Shea '16 Rowing Center
Princeton University
Princeton NJ
Event date and time: Sunday, April 22
1:45 PM Race Orientation
2:45 PM Coxing
There may still be snow outside but we’ll be on the water soon which means racing is right around the corner! If this is your first season after Learn to Row, it’s been a while since you’ve raced, or maybe you just want a refresher on race-time logistics, please join Sandra and Alison for a two part session on Sunday, April 22 starting at 1:45pm.
Race Orientation  1:45-2:45
Everything you wanted to know about racing at CLRA!  We will cover:
1.     How to sign for races
2.     Which races are best for your rowing level and where to find a list of our races for the year
3.     What kind of commitment is required before, during, and after the race.
4.     How racing boats are formed
5.     The cost of racing
6.     What happens if you’ve signed up for a race but have to miss a mandatory race practice or race altogether due to an emergency
During the meeting, there will be time for an open Q&A session for any other questions not addressed above.
Coxing 2:45-3:45
After the race orientation, we will blend into a new topic: “Coxing”.
This clinic is recommended for those who are new to the club and have not experienced coxing, or for those who want a refresher on coxing basics. This clinic will cover:
1.     What coxing supplies are needed and where to find them
2.     Basic commands and practice giving them
3.     Steering basics
4.     If time permits, advanced verbage for those dreaded “race Wednesdays”
So mark your calendars!  A sign-up genius for both sessions will follow shortly.  And we promise we’ll be done in time for Sunday OTW practice.
We look forward to seeing you!
Alison and Sandra
