At CLRA, EVERYONE Coxes. Training is mandatory for novices!
Coxing 101: For those who have minimal time in the coxswain seat and dread the day you're selected as "The Chosen One", please come to the boathouse on April 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Collegiate Head Coach of TCNJ Rowing, Alison Pollini (and proud member of CLRA), and former Asst. Coach of TCNJ, Katie Samsel (also proud member of CLRA), will be teaching Coxing 101. There you will learn the following basics, making sure our coaches think you're a coxing PRO!

1. What is my purpose as a coxswain?

2. How do I steer and 8+?

3. How do I steer a 4+?

4. What do I say to the rowers? I can hardly figure the stroke out myself!

5. What do I do if I have to cox the scary fast boats.....

6. Help! I have trouble seeing in the dark!

7. Um, what arch do I go through again?

8. Why is my boat zig-zagging....?.

9. How do I wear the coxing headset?

10. How the heck do you use this stupid cox-box?!

If you have wondered about any of the above questions, Coxing 101 is for YOU!   Don't make excuses. Yes, I know you're busy. No, you can't do it another day. Yes you should sign up to row afterwards. See you then!
